VE Day 80: A Proud Day of Remembrance, Community and Kindness

On 8th May, we proudly joined the nation in commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day, a landmark moment marking the end of the Second World War in Europe.

It was a day filled with heartfelt remembrance, joyful celebration, and a strong sense of community spirit.

Our celebration began with a two-minute silence at 12pm to honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who served. We then discussed and shared wartimes photos of which reminded us all of the resilience shown during those years.

We were especially delighted to welcome some of our elderly clients, who joined us for tea, music, and a walk down memory lane. For those in our community who couldn’t get out to attend, we delivered tea and cakes to their doorsteps — bringing a bit of the celebration to them with a smile and a friendly chat.

The day was filled with 1940s music, cream teas and scones, and plenty of laughter.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the day, and to our volunteers who made the cake deliveries extra special. It was a true celebration of 80 years of peace, and a reminder of the power of community and compassion.

We will remember them — and honour them through kindness.
