Complex Care
Complex care for those who require extra daily support
Complex Care from SureCare North Leeds & Harrogate is available for those who require assistance beyond a typical home care package. Our aim is to deliver long-term, continuing care to people with additional needs and requirements, in the comfort of their own homes.
At SureCare North Leeds & Harrogate, we have the skills and experience to deliver a range of Complex Care services, that can enable your loved one to live as independently as possible.
What is Complex Care?
Complex Care covers a range of different care needs, often requiring more advanced assistance than a standard home care service. It is our mission to support your loved ones in leading rich and fulfilling lives each day, no matter what their unique circumstances may be. We are focused on achieving positive outcomes through our service.
As more and more people wish to retain their independence at home, SureCare recognises the need to bring Complex Care services to the community, so we can support individuals at home where they feel most comfortable. This negates the need for them to move away from their familiar surroundings to live in a specialist care home.
Types of Complex Care
Complex Care services are typically designed for anyone living with a chronic or long-term condition. In such cases, the level of support needed is usually more advanced than that offered by a standard home care package. Your loved one will be able to rely on us for specialist support as part of their care.
We know that every individual situation is unique and that different people will require different levels of support. Our range of Complex Care services can help people with special requirements to feel fulfilled in their daily lives.
At SureCare North Leeds & Harrogate, we are registered to deliver the following types of Complex Care:
Treatment of disease, disorder or injury
Learning disabilities
Mental health conditions
Physical disabilities
Treatment of disease, disorder or injury
Examples of Complex Care tasks can include:

PEG feed management
PEG stands for ‘percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy’, which allows for an individual to be fed through a flexible tube directly into their stomach. Effective management of this also requires an understanding of feeding routines and emergency balloon changes.
Catheter management
Catheters involve a flexible tube and drainage bag to collect urine when an individual has difficulties with going to the toilet. Looking after a catheter – particularly in the long-term – involves maintaining a high standard of hygiene, ensuring waste urine is properly disposed of and even spotting the signs of potential problems.
Tracheostomy management
A tracheostomy tube is inserted into an individual’s throat when they have long-term difficulties with breathing. It ensures they have a clear airway and it’s important for our care workers to properly maintain the necessary components, so that the airway doesn’t become obstructed.
Nebuliser management
Nebulisers are typically used by people with severe lung conditions like COPD, bronchiectasis or cystic fibrosis. They work by turning liquid medications into a fine mist that can be inhaled. Our care workers are familiar with the multiple components which make up nebulisers and how to maintain them properly.
Wound care
It’s important to take extra care of surgical wounds when they take a long time to heal. Our care workers have had additional training that enables them to assess wounds, replace dressings and keep them clean to prevent possible infections.
